Mermaid

The coolness lapped
Around her ankles,
Pushing dampened sand
Between her pale toes.

Breathing in his mist;
Inhaling it deeply.
Sea spray on her lips,
Drenching her softly.

Waves gush past her knees
As she pushes forward,
Roused by the tease
Of the briny bard.

Tamed on the land,
Set free by the sea,
Her soul remembered;
A mermaid she be.
