It Grows Within

Happiness doesn't sprinkle
down like summer rain,
doesn't find you
in the darkness.
Happiness won't come
knocking on your door
with a box of surprises,
won't come looking for you
when you're all alone.
Don't depend on it
from someone else
nor steal some of theirs. 

Happiness grows from within
with slow and careful nurturing.
