Faith In Tomorrow

Master of tides,
he waits all day
for the sun to sink
below the waves,
for her light to fade
and darkness descend
so that he can see
their sparkly smiles again:
a trillion little lights at play,
all twinkling in the distance.

He waits all day,
a rock of patience
with love in his belly
and hope in his heart
for a night that's clear and plenty.

Alas, when dusk disappoints
and the world feels weighty,
a sadness pulls at the air
as lumbering clouds gather in the sky
like hefty curtains covering the stars,
night is a long and lonely place
without their twinkles and winks
but answer me this,
- does the moon ever, ever
loose faith in tomorrow?
